Serban A. Olaru DMD, FCII, FICOI, MICOI

Implant Dentist • Clinical Instructor • Focused on Rebuilding Smiles and Lives

Dr. Serban Olaru is a highly trained implant dentist with over 25 years of experience in advanced oral care and surgical rehabilitation. His passion lies in helping patients regain confidence and function through modern implant solutions — from single-tooth replacement to full-mouth reconstructions.

A graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Dr. Olaru earned his Doctorate in Dental Medicine (DMD) in 1997. He went on to complete a postgraduate fellowship in Oral Medicine in 1999 and an additional year of advanced training in Periodontics in 2000, both at UMDNJ. In 2019, he completed a prestigious Oral Implantology Fellowship jointly conferred by the California Implant Institute and the University of Nevada Dental School.

Dr. Olaru’s background in academic research includes published work on trigeminal pain pathways in the field of neurophysiology. This foundation in science, combined with years of hands-on surgical training, allows him to approach every case with precision and insight.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Olaru has served as a Clinical Instructor in the Oral Medicine departments of both UMDNJ and the University of Washington School of Dentistry. He currently teaches at the California Implant Institute in San Diego, training fellow dentists in advanced implant techniques.

Patients describe Dr. Olaru as calm, deeply attentive, and committed to getting things right the first time. At Mountainside Oral Implantology & Prosthetics, he leads a team focused on evidence-based care, surgical excellence, and genuine human connection — because restoring a smile is about more than just teeth.

Dr. Olaru’s wife, Ingrid Lintmaer Olaru, MD, works as an Internal Medicine Hospitalist Physician at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA while being a full-time mother to their son and daughter.
